What was your major or field of study in college? Did you wind up working in that field or using that degree? If not, what field have you wound up in?
Submitted by sneuf.
Graduated from a 4 year University with Major in Geology and Geography, and also with a history minor. I worked in the field of Geology for a year as a Geophysicist and then became more serious about my relationship with my boyfriend/fiancee (who is now my husband). We moved our lives back "on-shore" and back home, and I shifted my focus from Earth Science to behavioral science, I guess you could say. I worked, for a few years, with a specialized population of children in school settings who struggled with behavioral management. I guess that's the best way to describe my job while working with the kids, "behavioral management". After that I decided to meet the needs of my stepson by homeschooling him after the 5th grade. I pretty much dedicated myself to that effort for a good 4+/- years. Toward the end of that process I was yearning for some adult socialization so I landed myself a part time job in my local town. It allowed me to homeschool and work at the same time, something I've been incredibly fortunate to experience. Pretty much, though, I'd have to say that my full-time field of "work", right now, is homeschooling. RocketBoy isn't out of school yet, but he's planning on it within the month, and Darknite and I have resigned ourselves to the notion that this may be the best thing for RocketBoy.
Which breed of dog is your favorite? Post a picture of it.
Submitted by Melissa.
Couldn't help it. Had to post more than 1 picture. There's a lesson to be learned here. Well, ok, there might be more than 1 lesson to be learned here... The first, above all, is never ask YahYah to post just 1 picture of her most favorite dog breed. Why? Because my favorite dog breed is the border collie and my favorite border collie is my older dog. And quite frankly, there's no way I can post just 1 picture of him. And with pictures of my older boy, there must also come pictures of my younger pup, our black and white hyper boy, also a border collie.
If you had a time machine, which year would you travel to and why?
Submitted by Michelle.
I would travel to the year 1773 because it's right before the colonies' 1st continental congress met and I'd love to rub elbows with John Adams, John Hancock, Patrick Henry and a young Thomas Jefferson... but most of all, the opportunity to meed James Madison. The thought of being able to stand in the presence of his political genius... it sends chills down my spine. In my opinion, the nation doesn't appreciate Madison nearly enough for what he's done for us. His forethought (sp) ... was incredible... and .. simply genius, and yet? He remained humble about his contributions and accomplishments until the day he died. Dolly was so right to have called him "The Great Little Madison", because he was. He really was.
List five reasons (at least) why you are awesome.
Submitted by goobers18.
1. I'm so damned modest. =:D
2. In Basketball, I can shot-fake like nobody's business.
3. I drive a Jeep Wrangler.
4. I know all the words to PM Dawn's "Set adrift on a memory bliss" (or, at least I used to!)
5. I know the longest single-vowel word in the English dictionary. (do you?)
6. I'm left handed but can write ambidextrously, if that's even a word... I can do it... in cursive and in print.
7. I know the chemical formula for "rust".
8. I've gone through an intensive sea survival training course in order to work off-shore for a major oil contracting company.
9. I've looked a coiled up rattle snake dead on (I shouldn't say that)... straight on... and survived to tell about it. And... yes, it was shaking its rattle, and yes it was in the wild - within a foot from where I stopped (luckily). Most people who escape death are automatically "awesome", right? Isn't that a rule or something?
10. When I get frustrated or agitated I still use the words "Golly" and "Gee-Wizz", which .... not a lot of people do. That, right there, pretty much makes me awesome. =:D
If you could perform alongside any artist (actor, dancer, musician, etc.), who would it be, and what would you perform?
Submitted by Kristin.
My passion for performance is definitely behind the camera and working with the raw footage, so I'd probably choose to work with Alastair Fothergill, the director of the Planet Earth series for the Discovery Channel. The "performance" would be in the director's cut of the final footage. Right now, I'm really into Documentary Style filmmaking. For me, it's more about truth, and what's real, when telling a story, moreso than telling a story for the sake of entertainment, and the Planet Earth Series... I dunno, it just... takes my breath away. It's amazing.
